My Aliner Rebuild Photos

After I had the camper's bent frame straightened and reinforced, I thought I was home free.

But then I discovered wet floors under the water heater and shower:

The white stuff at the top is fungus.

I was hoping that was the extent of the damage, but just to be sure, I took a look under the shower.....

Same story, only not quite so bad....

So I gutted everything but the kitchen (including the bathroom).....

Three days later I drilled some shallow holes in the floor to treat it with PC Petrifier (for treating rotten wood in boats) and water welled up out of the holes.

So Ron sanded the waterproof membrane off the bottom of the trailer so the wood could dry. After a few more days drying time, I treated it with the wood treatment, painted the floor with Kilz sealer and primer so mildew wouldn't grow, and to give me a base for the floor tiles.......

Then I laid the tile and reinstalled the fresh water tank and installed a NEW water heater....

and when I tested the water heater, it leaked like a geyser...

So I took the trailer into the RV shop to have the water heater leaks fixed.

When I got the camper back Ron and I reinstalled the bathroom. I don't have photos of that operation because it was so traumatic,
I didn't feel like documenting it!!!!

We cracked the shower pan removing it, but I drilled holes at the end of the cracks and patched it. And this time,
every single seam between the toilet and mounting got sealed with butyl tape, then I caulked over that.

Then I started building the bed frames. I had intended to use the supports for the old sofabed, but it was 1-1/2" higher on one end than the other.
So I ended up building semi-freestanding units and screwing them into the old supports.

I ordered some nice foam from The Foam Factory along with a high-density eggcrate topper....

I also found a cute little rattan chest to go between the beds and nice rattan baskets for our clothes under the beds.

I wanted mattress covers that could be easily washed, but also that would look good.

So I bought a king-size comforter and cut it in half and made covers. Then I attached snaps with elastic holders. They will keep the covers in place, and I can unsnap them and throw them into the washer when needed.

Here are the finished beds...

You can see the rest of the "new trailer" here.
