Remodeling our Little Aliner

We had a serious water leak which we traced to the water heater.  We discovered the floor underneath was saturated and rotting.  Then I checked the floor under the shower and it also was saturated and deteriorating.

There was nothing to do but to gut the trailer (except for the kitchen, where the floor was still in good shape).

I dried the floor out and treated it with PC Petrifier, which restores rotten wood by plasticizing it, then put down the new tile flooring.

Then I replaced the sofa bed with twin beds.  Also, this opened up our underbed storage and made it much more convenient.  We now keep our clothes in large baskets which are easily accessible.

We have taken the Aliner on several long trips since doing these mods, and it is a tremendous improvement.   We have more personal space and more storage space.

The original sofa bed became more and more uncomfortable to sleep on.  I took it out and built these very comfortable twin beds.  What a difference it makes to get a great night's sleep!  I also added the little rattan drawer unit which is perfect for underwear and toiletries.  It also gives us a small nightstand for glasses, books, and cell phones.

It was quite a job to reinstall the bathroom, but we managed to get it done.  You can see the new flooring in this picture.
The fabric shower curtains have a waterproof vinyl liner behind them.  So far we have not found any moisture behind them after we shower. Having my own shower and not having to use campground facilities is still one of my favorite features of my little Aliner.  Also, it is GREAT for bathing the dog.

I made double lined curtains that completely block the light and do not show shadows when we are inside.  I added snaps to snap them together when they are closed so there are no gaps.

This shows the curtains tied back and the wallpaper border that keeps the ceiling from looking so starkly white.  It also adds visual interest since there is really nowhere to put pictures..

We are enjoying our little trailer more than ever since we made these mods.
